Not any game can be played for your ps2 online unfortunately. Look on the back of the box, below the games description. There will be a brief summary of the game's capabilities ina series of small rectangles including how many players it is, how much space is required on your memory card to play and save, and any special periphrials required to play the game. If in that area there is a box that reads Online then it can be played on line. (also take note that some games can not be played on a dial-up connection. These will say Online: Broadband only or something similar)

some games have an on line feature and some don't. On the back of the case, towards the bottom, it will tell you if you can use Internet with this game. Start up the game and hit multiplayer and then on line. On line may also be on the main menu of the game.
