Can I play my ps2 online without an ethernet cord but with the usb cord of a verizon cable 1 high speed modem?

I don't know how to get an ethernet cord and if I did I do not know how to use one. But I see that my playstation 2 has two USB ports. My Verizon Cable One Modem should give computers an internet connection through USB. I do not do that because I have a labtop and it is also a wireless modem. Is it possible for me to game online with connection from my modem with a USB port?
