I have a computer with a wireless network card. The modem is on the other side of the house (from verizon fios) it has a built in router and wireless features so all 4 computers in the house get internet. Since the modem is too far away to connect the ps2, how can I play online? I heard there are game adaptors for it. Is that enought? ThanksHow can I play ps2 online with a wireless computer?

I think WIFI is the most over used type of networking there is. Your PS2 is basically a stationary device, so you actually do not need wireless. It sounds like the Playstation 2 is too far away from your router to connect it with a cable. I recommend going with powerline. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoBYr3Ezk鈥?/a> You will get the gist of how this technology works. Newegg sells a bunch of these.
If you do not already have a router, you can kill 2 birds with one stone and buy a powerline router. You then would have to buy an additional adapter for your playstation. Otherwise, just buy a powerline kit that comes with 2 powerline devices.
I really do not understand why this technology has not taken off. I guess wireless is what is in the minds of consumers. The big reason why I like powerline is it is more secure. I have a wifi network myself. I have it locked down to the extreme, but all somebody has to do is hit my reset button on my router, and all of the sudden my network is wide open again. Powerline does not have this issue.
Obviously, you still need wifi if you want to connect your ipod, mp3 player, or palm device to your network. Also, you need wifi if you want to use voice over IP with vonage. If we are just talking about a playstation and a stationary laptop computer, I think powerline is a better choice.
i think you need a router
